Le Royale
Brisbane CBD
Updated: Mar 24, 2026
Le Royale is a gorgeous moodily-lit cocktail and late-night music lounge bar, located upstairs from sibling The French Exit in the heritage-listed Coal Board Building at 169 Mary Street in the Brisbane CBD.
The stunning venue features burgundy banquettes, floral carpet, arched windows shrouded by velvet curtains, tasseled lamps and solid custom-made barstools and tables that punctuate the space. Anchoring the space is a glowing carved giallo sienna marble bar wrapped around a central wall dividing the space equally into ‘East’ and ‘West’ wings, accommodating up to 120 guests.
Spirits are carefully selected from local distributors and sourced abroad to offer what only a handful of bars in Australia can. In a nod to Le Royale’s persona, iconic cinematic references are cleverly interwoven into the menu by way of cocktail titles such as I Wanna Dance, I Wanna Win and Say What Again, I Dare You, I Double Dare You.
Cocktails, while the main event in the beverage menu, are well complemented with a wide offering of other beverages. Something unique to Le Royale is access to Anyday’s reserve wine cellar list which features truly unique and rare wines from all over the world. Australian beers are offered exclusively, to guarantee freshness.
Drawing culinary inspiration from The French Exit and reimagined for “cocktail-style” dining, the menu centres on refined classics. Familiar favourites include steak tartare with pommes gaufrettes, chicken liver parfait served in an éclair and French fries, the undisputed late-night essential. For those seeking something more substantial, the venue’s signature Le Royale with Cheese delivers a crowd favourite. The experience can be finished on a sweet note with made to order madeleines, or house-made soft serve. Guests can enjoy the menu late into the evening with food served on Fridays and Saturdays until 1:30am.
With three rotating live house bands that play from Thursday to Saturday, reinterpreting familiar pop songs into jazz syncopations, the result is a vibrant atmosphere that feeds spontaneity and invites guests to forget where they need to be or what time it is.
