Grub Street Eatery

Gaythorne

On a busy road in a shabby Gaythorne shopping centre, Grub Street is a funky little cafe which serves up one of the best foodie's breakfasts to be found anywhere in Brisbane, with great Grinders coffee to boot.

No bookings are taken on weekends, although the staff manage to accommodate the steady stream of patrons-in-the-know arrive from far and wide to get their fill of divine offerings such as Carrot Pancakes with Beetroot, hums and red pepper relish, Nasi Goreng with chicken, chilli, and fried egg or a popular Bacon and Egg Burger with tomato relish.

The artisan chefs come into their own with the specials and ever-changing seasonal dishes, creating things like Lamb Gourmet Toast (za'atar lamb mince, tzatziki sauce, fried eggs and sourdough or Breakfast Gnocchi.

The entire breakfast menu is available all day every day and from Monday to Saturday lunch kicks in at 11.30 for those so inclined, with an equally enticing menu involving things like Grubby Cheeseburgers, smoked salmon burgers or Cajun or reuben gourmet sandwiches.

And all of this is served up on either a little wraparound deck looking towards the military workshop and a party light shop or an art-adorned main room indoors with shelves of cookbooks and bright homey cushions. Meantime dog owners are accommodated on the little deck out back.
