Jugar Eat Play Drink

West End

Jugar in West End is a stunning space the whole family can enjoy offering top-notch coffee, fresh seasonal fare and a purpose-built play space for children.

Jugar West End

Located on Jane Street in the heart of West End, where the Colossos Reception Lounge once stood, this innovative venue is the brainchild of brother and sister duo, Corsino and Jenny, who saw a gap in the market regarding family dining options.

Jugar West End

Jugar (pronounced hwey-ghar) is Spanish for play and this well-appointed space provides a fantastic play zone for small children, while parents can catch up with friends and unwind with a well-brewed cup of coffee or glass of wine and enjoy delicious, seasonal fare in the beautiful dining area with luxe booths, banquette seating and pretty pastel pink chairs, or dine al fresco on the outdoor terrazza.

Breakfast fare includes smashed avocado on rye with tomato, beetroot hummus and smoked labne, pea and zucchini fritters with tomato ginger kasundi sauce, avocado and poached eggs, and buttermilk pancakes with yuzu curd, fresh berries, salted caramel sauce, meringue crumb and fairy floss.

Lunch and/or dinner options consist of small plates of tapas such as panko-fried three cheese stuffed mushrooms, king fish ceviche with avocado puree and blue corn crisps, and buffalo mozzarella with zucchini flower, heirloom tomato, bitter leaves and pine nuts; while large plates range from chorizo gnocchi and wagyu sirloin to slow-braised lamb shoulder and honey chilli glazed pork belly.

In addition, there's a charcuterie board of cured meats and cheeses with truffled honey, olive and rosemary crisps, and a cheese plate with a selection of three local and imported cheeses with quince paste and lavosh.

Of course, there's a dedicated kids menu which consists of small plates of similar breakfast fare; while lunch is Kids Choice with a range of mains and side dishes to choose from such as wagyu steak, panko crumbed chicken strips or mini cheeseburgers with crispy polenta chips, roast potato, quinoa, or carrot sticks with beetroot hummus. All kids meals include a juice or water and a dessert bowl.

Drink wise, there's locally-roasted Bellissimo coffee, cold-pressed juices, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Jugar is fully-licensed with local and imported beer, a concise wine list, and classic cocktails like French Martinis, Mojitos and Aperol Spritzes.

Nice to know - Jugar provides baby change facilities in both male and female toilets.

Need to know - There is a small entry fee per child for the supervised play zone - $5 on weekdays, $7 on weekends*.

*This fee is correct at time of visiting in April 2019.
