Dayboro Sugar Mill

Dayboro Sugar Mill, or as it's fondly known by locals, The Mill, is a top spot for a catch-up and to enjoy some good quality country fare and a drink.

Open from 11am for lunch, happy hour and dinner 5 days a week, there’s a couple of different seating choices on offer for punters at this relaxed country cafe.

Inside the original building is where you’ll find the bar, and it’s also the perfect, out-of-the-weather spot to gaze down at the ducks who call the nearby creek home, as well to check out the black and white photos that showcase the history of Dayboro’s early days adorning the walls.

Down the side and out the back, there’s a chill beer garden that comes to life as the sun goes down and the festoon lights change the mood.

The dulcet tones of talented musos fill the air on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as performing for the Sunday arvo session that’s turning into quite an institution.

The menu is what you’d expect at a good country establishment, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced produce – hearty burgers (including gluten-free buns) and plenty of delish sides & snacks to keep the hunger at bay.

For the burgers, choose your bun (if buns are really not your thing, try the Nudey Rudey), then the filling and finally, decide on your hunger level – single burger or double burger.  

Think the likes of BBQ Bacon Burger, Smokey Pulled Port Burger, Chicken Katsu Burger, Mushroom & Halloumi Burger as just the tip of the iceberg.

Salads and share plates are also high on the must-try list and include yummy morsels such as Back at The Ranch, Mexicana Bowl, Brie & Cranberry Pull Apart, Jalapeno & Bacon Country Cob, Wow Bao Buns and more.

Sides & salads complete the savoury offerings, and you’ll find it hard to make a decision when the list includes share plates like Nachos, Fried Mac N Cheese Bites, Corn Ribs, Salsa Loaded Friends, and Pork Belly Bites … just to get the juices flowing.

Drinks include the usual range of coffees (Wolff Coffee Roasters), teas, soft drinks and juices. 

If you’re looking for something with a little more kick, think about making a selection from the well-priced cocktail list (with cocktail jugs for groups & mocktails for the designated driver), the concise wine list, maybe a tipple from a neat selection of your favourite spirits, or a whistle wetter from the range of brews and craft beers on tap – Great Northern Original, Larry Pale Ale, Deadbeat Boyfriend Lager, Tilly Ginger Beer, and Your Mates Brewing Co, for starters.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, there’s a dessert & shakes menu that includes Thick Sugar Shakes that can be boosted with a shot of spirits (18+ only).

Several private function spaces are available for hire for your next party in the Moreton Bay region.

Nice to know – Being dog-friendly, your 4-legged bestie is allowed with you in the beer garden area and must remain on a lead. And, as for your horse, well, it’s also welcome with hitching spots out at the back entrance if that’s your preferred mode of transport. For those with serious horsepower under the hood, there's plenty of street parking available.

Need to know – The outside area is fully wheelchair accessible and pram-friendly.
