2022 Highlights

World Science Festival Brisbane is set to return bigger and better than ever in 2022, featuring some of the world's greatest scientific minds discussing some of the biggest questions in science.

*The World Science Festival Brisbane has gone virtual due to the recent flood events, with programs available online.

World Science Festival Brisbane

Einstein and the Quantum: Entanglement and Emergence, Mar 9, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, $10-$40

World Science Festival Brisbane, Dr Karl

Night of the Nerds, Mar 12, Playhouse, QPAC, $55-$60

Comedian Mark Humphries will host the Festival's very own, very nerdy, variety game show; joined on stage by two all-star teams of scientists, tech heads and funny people including the irrepressible Dr Karl, while Clare Bowditch and the house band keep things rocking along.

World Science Festival Brisbane

Space Race 2.0, Mar 12, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, $30-$35

More rockets were launched into space in 2021 than any year before, taking with them hundreds of satellites as well as the odd first-time astronaut. As this new frontier becomes increasingly crowded, questions need to be answered about space governance, traffic, sovereignty and even managing the precious resources on the Moon and Mars.

World Science Festival Brisbane

What on Earth is So Good About Mars?, Mar 13, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, $10-$35

In 2021, China became the third nation to land on the surface of Mars. There are now six rovers, a lander and a helicopter scattered across the red planet. Griffith University’s Paulo de Souza and a panel of experts discuss what has been found out so far and what is still to be discovered about the fourth planet from the sun.
