World Music Cafe

The Shenzo Gregoria Trio & Mzaza

Enjoy amazing world music and support the cause of Motor Neurone Disease with World Music Cafe: The Shenzo Gregorio Trio & Mzaza at Queensland Multicultural Centre, Friday, December 15.

Gypsy folk favourites, MZAZA, are back on the BEMAC stage by popular demand, with this special edition World Music Café. The two-time Queensland Music Award winners, comprising Australian and European musicians and led by French-Siphardic vocalist Pauline Maudy, are just back from an 18-date regional tour. They’ll be premiering new songs as well as pulling out some of the old favourites for their devoted fans.

Joining them for the show is their friend, the very talented violinist Shenzo Gregorio, known for his work in the Shenzo’s Electric Stunt Orchestra, Fourplay, and for his appearances in projects such as the Doch Gypsy Orchestra and Flamenco Fire.

He’s also performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York, played with people such as Katie Noonan and The Ten Tenors, and supported Mariah Carey and The Buena Vista Social Club. This time he’ll be helming a gypsy jazz trio with shades reminiscent of the Paris hot clubs of the 1930s.

As an added incentive – not that you need one to attend what is sure to be a brilliant night – 10 per cent of ticket sales will be donated to the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) foundation towards further research into this progressive, terminal neurological illness. There’s no known cure or effective treatment and it affects over 2000 Australians so every little bit helps.
