VESPA PIZZA HAS MOVED TO NEWSTEAD AND IS AWAITING A NEW REVIEW
Diners at this cosy rustic pizza joint have the choice of a long narrow candlelit vine covered courtyard or indoors, where the coveted seats are the padded booths complete with mudguards.
But whether dining in-house or having takeaway delivered by Vespa, it’s all about the delicious wood-fired pizzas which at $18.50 to $20.50 are enough to satisfy the ravenous. Whether after a traditional Italian topping or Anglicized version, the extensive menu holds more than enough to keep both camps happy.
Italian faves are the lush Pizza Bianca with pancetta, olives, fior de latte, cherry tomatoes, artichokes capers and olives or the Soppressa with tomatoes, olives mozzarella and chilli. Or move right away from Italy and try the char grilled beef with onion jam roast zucchini and semi-dried tomatoes or the Baharat lamb with hommus – there’s something on the menu to keep everyone happy.
While there’s no children’s pizza menu, amongst the entrees is a potato wafer pizza or crispy polenta pieces with aioli. Otherwise a Margherita shared between 2 or 3 hits the spot, although those accustomed to Domino’s may find it all too fresh and foreign. On the dessert and drinks front children are deliciously catered for with red lemonade spiders and ice-cream and skittles.
