Trash Monkey

Fortitude Valley

TRASH MONKEY HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

The Valley’s alternative heart beats under one roof at this fabulous emporium of rockabilly, punk, burlesque, tiki & surf, psychobilly, pin-up, glam, Victorian and steam punk fashion and wares.

A Cadillac bench seat lounge, Wurlitzer organ and pop art feature wall by local Valley artist Rod Bunter are the backdrop for the best-of-every-era vintage-inspired designs by a bunch of clever indie designers, mixed with a bunch of must-have vintage collectables.

Here’s the place to pick up that yellow polkadot bikini, Jayne Mansfield one-piece, Good Ship Lollipop sailor suit, Bride of Frankenstein evening gown, vintage cowboy boots, Iron Fist tee or Slade-worthy glam platforms, denim jacket or plaid rockabilly shirt.

Clothes aside, Trash Monkey is stacked with quirky memorabilia – vintage skateboards, yo yos, risqué pin-up playing cards – and statement jewellery to wake up the most pedestrian outfit.

Even babies can get into the groove with edgy romper suits that would pass muster at any Valley night club.
