Tiki Tiki Gai

Fortitude Valley

TIKI TIKI GAI HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Tiki Tiki Gai in Fortitude Valley is a secret underground tiki bar whose entrance lies within the Heya Bar rabbit warren of bars.

The hideaway bar takes Tiki cocktails to a whole new level of delicious, with most of them laced with Bacardi rum and somewhat influenced by Heya Bar’s typical flair – the continent of Asia.

Inside the Tiki Tiki Gai cove bar are various Hawaiian inspired props and wall hangings. The back wall is covered with tropical palm leaf wallpaper whilst the other wall is covered floor to ceiling in spirit bottles. Bar stools are the only seating inside the hideaway bar, with more seating located in Heya Bar.

Pineapples and leis adorn the bar top, next to a big treasure chest which holds their signature Tiki cocktail, The Big Kahuna. The Big Kahuna is Heya Bar’s biggest drink yet – filled with generous amounts of Bacardi carta blanca, raspberry puree, coconut, guava juice, homemade vanilla syrup and lengthened with sparkling rose. The Big Kahuna also comes in a single version which is served in a Tiki inspired glass and topped with raspberries and a banana leaf.

The Kilauea is a staff favorite which is served in a tall, brown Tiki totem glass. This cocktail which is aptly named after Hawaii’s active volcano – can be described as breakfast in a cocktail. With flavours drawn from spiced Bacardi leugo, DeKupyer white cacao, fresh espresso, coconut, cream and banana.

The Rock A Hula Baby is another favourite, served in a groovy pineapple glass and bursting with flavours from blackberries, lime, chilli, apples and of course, Bacardi. There are nine cocktails on the menu, each with their own unique Tiki flair.

Alternate drinks, as well as delicious pan-Asian food is available from outside Tiki Tiki Gai, at Heya Bar.

Need to know – entry into Tiki Tiki Gai will be capped at capacity.

*Opening hours at time of visiting in April 2017.
