Teriyaki Tokyo

Teriyaki Tokyo closed permanently in 2020.
Teriyaki Tokyo is a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant specialising in flame-grilled teriyaki, in Rochedale South.
Tucked away in a small suburban shopping strip, this tiny eatery serves delicious teriyaki dishes, cooked the traditional way over flames on a grill.
In fact, teriyaki describes the cooking method. Teri means lustre and yaki means grilled – grilled with a glaze.
The menu at Teriyaki Tokyo is short and sweet - flame-grilled chicken, steak, salmon and tofu glazed with house made teriyaki sauce - served with rice or salad.
Rice bowls include your choice of teriyaki served on a bed of quinoa rice with side salad, or you can have your teriyaki served on leafy greens with carrots and cherry tomatoes, and creamy sesame dressing.
Side dishes include the fan favourite, teriyaki chicken on a stick, as well as steamed gyoza, tamago-yaki (rolled omelette), edamame, seaweed salad and miso soup with wakame seaweed. And for dessert, there’s matcha ice-cream.
Drink-wise, there are western soft drinks and Japanese soft drinks such as Calpico, canned coffee and aloe vera drinks.
Good to know – Teriyaki Tokyo is family-friendly with a basket of traditional Japanese toys and Manga books on hand, as well as books on Japan and origami papers for practising the art of origami.
Need to know – Dine-in seating is limited but take-away is available.
