Movies On The Green: Gallipoli

Toowong Cemetery

Catch a free Saturday screening of Gallipoli under the stars at Toowong Cemetery to end the week of ANZAC-themed activities in Brisbane.

The AFI multi-award-winning 1981 movie, directed by Peter Weir and starring a young Mel Gibson and Mark Lee told the haunting tale of two Australian soldiers who faced the brutal realities of war when they were sent to fight in Turkey during World War I.

An initiative of Brisbane City Council’s City of Lights program, in conjunction with Backbone Youth Arts Inc, this unique movie night is being held in Canon Garland Place.

So bring a picnic blanket and some snacks and enjoy a classic piece of Australian cinema in one of Brisbane’s prime historic spots.

Nice to know - Canon Garland Place commemorates Canon David John Garland (who was known as the "architect of Anzac Day" ) and Australia’s fallen heroes. Canon David John Garland is buried in the Toowong Cemetery.
