Macbeth

Playhouse Qpac

The original game of thrones manifests in this stunning new version of Macbeth, courtesy of QTC, Grin and Tonic Theatre Co and the Baird himself, William Shakespeare.

Under the directorship of Michael Attenborough, Macbeth - the dark epic of betrayal, ambition and murder – is portrayed through a new visionary lens and stars one of the largest casts the QTC has seen in the last 10 years.

For those who need a brush up on their Shakespeare, Macbeth is the tale of famed general Macbeth who returns from war only to be seduced by three witches whose prophecy says that he will be king.

Spurred on by his adoring and ambitious wife, he embarks on a roller coaster journey that takes him to the brink of insanity, murdering the monarch and seizing the crown. Then, plagued by paranoia and guilt, Macbeth and his lady attempt to cling to their claim while mentally unravelling as their subjects rise up against them.

Fittingly, Macbeth features some of the leading names in Australian stage, with Jason Klarwein as Macbeth and Veronica Neave as Lady Macbeth supported by an all-star cast.
