Let’s Get It On

The Life And Music Of Marvin Gaye

The smooth music and soulful voice of the late, great Marvin Gaye is often credited as inspiring people to ‘get it on’ and his fans can relive the good times and bad in the concert, Let’s Get It On: The Life and Music of Marvin Gaye at the Brisbane Powerhouse (5-8 August).

The show will feature plenty of the star’s iconic songs – Sexual Healing, I Heard it Through the Grapevine, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, What’s Going On, Let’s Get It On (of course) and others. They’ll be brought to life by ARIA Award-winning former CDB singer and 2012’s Australia’s Got Talent winner, Andrew de Silva, and well-known vocalist extraordinaire, Vika Bull (Vika and Linda, The Black Sorrows). They’ll be joined by the City Funk Band in the show that has garnered plaudits such as “goose-bump inducing”, “sublime” and “magical” from the critics.

Let’s Get It On: The Life and Music of Marvin Gaye Brisbane Powerhouse

“Marvin’s music was the soundtrack to so many people’s lives, so everyone knows the hits…  What makes this concert special is that we tell the stories behind the songs,” Vika says. “When the rest of the world was celebrating Marvin’s music he was dealing with his marriage breakdown, drug addiction, family problems and even ongoing issues with his record label. It’s a fascinating story and the concert is a celebration of a talented man whose music continues to bring joy to millions around the world.”
