In The House

Cult Movie Series

Don’t miss your chance to see some loved cult movie classics when Season 0.1 of the In The House cult film series returns to Event Cinemas Myer Centre, starting Friday February 3.

This batch of eclectic cult classics on Friday nights gives the young an opportunity to experience them for the first time on the big screen, while the young at heart can relive their glory days.

The 1986 John Hughes classic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, starring Matthew Broderick, is first off the mark at 7pm on 3 February – what a perfect Friday night out for all of its rabid fans. Then sci-fi aficionados will lap up the double feature on 17 February, with The Fly starring Jeff Goldblum (R18+) and the intelligent Gattaca, with Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Jude Law.

Stand By Me, a truly iconic ‘80s film starring the talented young River Phoenix, about a group of boys who stumble across a dead body, is on 3 March, while Steven Spielberg’s E.T. – The Extraterrestrial, on 14 April, is sure to stir up a lot of nostalgia.

Other films include Johnny Depp in the charming fairytale-like Edward Scissorhands, David Fincher’s brilliant Fight Club, Francis Ford Coppola’s acclaimed The Godfather Part II, Escape From New York, The Untouchables, and another double feature on 28 April of 1987 cyber punk action film, RoboCop, plus space opera, Flash Gordon.

The movie sessions will be hosted by Mitch Lewis from Nova and Get into Geek.
