Gingers

GINGERS DINER HAS CLOSED AND IS SET TO RE-OPEN AS NEW ORLEANS-INSPIRED SEYMOUR'S OYSTERS AND COCKTAILS BY NOVEMBER 2016.

Gingers is an ambient hole-in-the-wall Korean bar and diner in Petrie Terrace that takes inspiration from the popular 1970s TV series MASH.

In a nod to the famous 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Unit the exposed brick wall is emblazoned with the 4077 insignia and the Gingers cocktail list includes Radar Love and Klingers Closet.

Take a seat in a cosy black booth or pull up a stool at the bar and partake in some delicious Korean street food and staples, accompanied by a killer cocktail, tinnie or glass of wine while hits from the MASH era (think Sonny and Cher and Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World) mix it with some 50’s rockabilly.

The food menu ranges from nibbles like Wasabi peas and Nuts and Lardo with Crispy Rice and Spiced Salt through Cured Trout with Puff Cereal, Radish and Soy Dressing to dishes like Kimchi Fried Rice with Spiced Eggs, Fried Chicken with Hot and Sweet Sauce and the classic hearty Korean hotpot Bibimbap - (Mushroom or shredded pork with edamame, bean sprouts, egg, rice and spicy corn, served a side of kimchi).

Along with Radar Love and Klingers Closet, the cocktail list includes Planet of Love Martini (enjoyed by Dean Martin and other Rat Pack members around the world), Ginger Kamikaze (Sailor Jerry rum meets Miss Ginger) , Rosie the Riveter (Gingers rose, Hendricks gin, pink grapefruit, pomegranate and Triple Sec) and Mail Call (Caruba, Appleton Signature blend and lime).

The wine list is a fine compact selection of boutique Oz wines including the NV Ginger Sparkling and a special Cellar Selection including 2013 Tarrington Biodynamic Chardonnay and 2014 Jamsheed Roussane from Beechworth.

Gingers has 2 rotating tap beers and a fun bunch of Tinnies ranging from VB and Piston Head PBR.

Nice to know – Gingers is yet another fabulous creation of the talented folk behind Lefty's Old Time Music Hall next door.
