The End of an Era - After Dark at the Museum
The Workshops Rail Museum
Take a step back in time to the end of the Steam era after dark at The Workshops Rail Museum on Saturday night, with a swinging 60's themed party to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of steam in Queensland.
Enjoy an evening of rock and roll, groovy fashion, and classic cars in the heritage-listed surrounds of the award-winning museum, and tour the vintage steam collection with the expert curator.
Then sit back with a drink from the onsite bar (serving local beers and the usual favourites), twist around the dance floor to tunes by Darren J. Ray and the Love Bugs, or chill out in the theatrette with a slide show of rare archive photos of the end of steam in Queensland.
There's also a chance to cheer on the 9 finalists in the Miss Wild Thing 1969 Pinup Pageant (hosted by Bettie Butcher), check out a fabulous series of cars from the ‘50s and ‘60s, or just take the time to soak up the atmosphere of the Workshops after dark.
And be sure to dress up in the 1960s theme to go in the draw for Best Dressed!
