Celtic Koala

Windsor

CELTIC KOALA HAS CLOSED PERMANENTLY.

This cute little clover-adorned shop is the north side's go-to market for Irish, Scottish and English groceries. Irish ex-pat Liz and her Scottish/English expat partner Chris keep the place stocked with goodies to keep homesickness at bay.

Wensley's pork pies, Yorkie bars and salt and vinegar Tayto's, bacon fries and Bachelor's Marrowfat peas are among the chart toppers whilst in the sweets category Walker's toffee, Hartley's canned fruit and packet blancmange star.

Larder staples include Ploughman's and Branston pickles and HP sauces and curry cook-in sauces and in the freezer lurk delicacies such as haggis, faggots and gravy and Yorkshire puddings. And fresh for the taking are pasties, Lincolnshire pork sausages, Scotch eggs and Irish brown bread baked locally.

Meanwhile those in the market for a souvenir will find flags, kitsch salt & pepper shakers, kilt beer coolers and windscreen leprechauns.

And if all of this talk about Pork pies and the like whets the appetite head up the road to their other shop, O'Connor's Fish & Chips, for a hearty cooked breakfast or fish'n'chips just like they make in the home counties.
