Bob, Sweat & Tears

brisbane Powerhouse

It’s been too long since Australia’s ‘Prince of Polyester’ has tickled audience’s funny bones here. But never fear – Bob will be entertaining Brisbane fans very shortly when Bob, Sweat and Tears, arrives for a short stint at the Brisbane Powerhouse straight from a 14-night hit run in the Spiegeltent at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

We know we’ll get some very stylish safari suits and extremely well-behaved hair, but what else is on the cards?

Says Bob, a.k.a. comedian and creator, Mark Trevorrow, “The show is a rollercoaster ride of shocks, fabulous music and the usual laugh a minute. As always, the songs chose me! Classic hits I’ve loved since my childhood glued to Countdown and the radio Top 40.”

And how’s this for nostalgia? Are you old enough to remember songs such as ‘Billy Don’t Be a Hero’ and ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me’?

Reviews for the show have been glowing as expected, with the Herald Sun saying, “His repartee is witty and acerbic, his comic timing and delivery are impeccable”… while Scene and Heard report, “… despite the passing of time his act feels as fresh and funny as ever.”

That passing of time can’t be denied – Trevorrow created Bob Downe back in 1984, starting with a sketch at the Glebe Food Fair in Sydney. All these years later, he’s a true Australian entertainment icon who gives audiences cheek-hurting chuckles… not to mention that memorable swinging version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’.
