Blonde Venus

Fortitude Valley

BLONDE VENUS HAS CLOSED.

With the same grit and determination of the early settlers who arrived in 1849 on the HMS Fortitude and settled the Valley, owner of Blonde Venus Thea Basilou almost singlehandedly pioneered the Valley’s independent fashion scene.

In the early 1990s, when the Valley was still shaking off its seedy hangover from the Fitzgerald Enquiry, she threw open the doors to her boutique, which contained a unique collection of one-off local and international labels. Two decades later she is still powering along amongst the throng of other alternative and edgy boutiques which have started in her wake.

Check out the his and hers fashion, with very wearable labels including internationalists Karen Walker, Emma Cook and Natalia Brilli and closer-to-home Lover, Dr Denim and Cheap Monday as well as shoes that are made for walking such as stylish brogues.
