The Big Guns Of Country

Concert Hall Qpac

Some artists live on forever through their art, and in the field of country music superstars, you can’t go past the enduring hits of Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell and John Denver. All with millions of devoted fans each, their songs cover different aspects of the country music genre. The Big Guns of Country tour reaches the Concert Hall at QPAC on Saturday, 2 May, and you can swim in nostalgia as the great hits of these three artists are recreated.

Graham Toole and Chris Callaghan have received rave reviews of their shows, especially for their spot-on performances that capture the voices and magic of the three country music legends. Toole, with his seven-piece orchestra, pays tribute to both Glen Campbell and John Denver. He’ll do Campbell classics you won’t be able to stop singing along with, including Bonaparte’s Retreat, Rhinestone Cowboy, Try a Little Kindness and the very stirring Galveston. From the John Denver repertoire, he’ll be doing the toe-tapping Thank God I’m a Country Boy, Rocky Mountain High, Annie’s Song, Leaving On a Jet Plane, and many more besides. Music legend, Frank Ifield, has been so impressed with Graham’s skills that he personally recommends everyone see this show.

Chris Callaghan will give Johnny Cash fans a treat with the grittier side of country – among the songs Ring of Fire, Walk the Line, A Boy Named Sue, and let’s not forget Folsom Prison Blues. The so-called ‘man in black’ is still revered and a huge influence on many hip musicians so it’s a great opportunity to see where that influence came from. Chris Callaghan has been praised for his rugged Cash-like looks on stage and gravel voice that gives audiences exactly what they want.

Between them, Glen Campbell, John Denver and Johnny Cash have sold so many million records and received so many awards, it’s far too many to list. The main thing you need to know if you want to relive the magic of their best years is to book soon for this popular show.
