Beautiful Beasts: Exhibition By Geoff Todd

Mitchell Fine Art

Renowned Australian artist, Geoff Todd, will have his latest exhibition, Beautiful Beasts, showing at Mitchell Fine Art, Fortitude Valley, from 2 March - 2 April.

The show will have a special opening on Friday, 4 March, opened by none other than pop singer and long-time friend of Todd, Leo Sayer, and it will also see the launch of Todd's companion full colour, hard bound book, Beautiful Beasts. The artist will be there and will also conduct an artist talk in the gallery from 2pm on Saturday, 5 March.

Beautiful Beasts Mitchell Fine Art

Todd, who was born in Melbourne, has had his work shown in galleries all over the world - U.S., Hong Kong, Italy, Austria among others - and is known for his dramatic personal perspective. He's represented in the National Gallery of Australia as well as several state and regional galleries throughout the country.

Beautiful Beasts was conceived and contemplated over the past 30 years, with Todd analysing mythological creatures from various cultures and looking at how they've transformed from their original representations into something very different.

Todd says that the collection of striking and sometimes confronting and surreal works is his attempt to address the misinformation that has led to the demonisation and misconceptions around the mythological creatures, whether it's due to religious or cultural attitudes or other reasons.
