9d Action Cinemas

Garden City

9D ACTION CINEMAS AT GARDEN CITY HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

9D Action Cinemas is Brisbane’s first virtual theme park – a tiny slice of Disneyland in the midst of Garden City shopping centre where thrill-seekers of all ages can pop in for a mind-blowing 9D roller coaster ride.

All of the action takes part in a tiny state of the art 6 –seater theatrette, where patrons buckle up and pop on the 3D glasses before holding on for a 9D thrills and spills simulated ride through anything from desert canyons to snow fields to haunted houses.

There are some 80 adventures to choose from, ranging from the beautiful animation Forest Coaster and Bob’s Sled Ride through the snow (suited to younger guests) through to the popular Canyon Coaster (reminiscent of Splash Mountain at Disneyland), the Snow Coaster (the theatre gets sprinkled with snow) and Triangle (through the tombs of ancient Egypt) to the spooky House of Hell and the fastest of all - the Acceleration alien-themed ride.

Along the way, and depending on the theme, riders can expect to get snowed on, sprayed with water, lunged at by sharks and blown about by the wind when not plunging head first off giant canyons.

Parents can ‘ride’ with their children or watch them from outside on the ‘live cam’ screen, via the special infrared cameras set up in the cinema.

In addition to the cinema, outside is a small arcade games area with air hockey and other games that anyone is welcome to play, regardless of whether they have a ticket to ride.

In a nutshell – 9D Action Cinemas makes a perfect time out for a unique dose of adrenaline-pumping fun for ages 1-100 during a shopping trip or if dining at the Garden City oasis precinct, and a great reward incentive for well-behaved young shoppers. Its entrance is handily adjacent to the free kids play zone on the first floor and near the Information desk.
