North Gorge Walk

Stradbroke Island

The North Gorge Walk on Pt Lookout is, quite simply, one of South East Queensland’s most spectacular coastal walks.

Point Lookout Gorge Walk Stradbroke Island

Encompassing sweeping coastal views, stunning bushland and the chance to spot wildlife (both land and sea), the 45 min walk, which follows a well-trodden loop path (with some stairs involved), is suited to all ages.

Touted as the best land point on Stradbroke to view humpback whales in their migratory season, The North Gorge Walk is also the place to see giant sea turtles, dolphins, Manta rays and wallabies in the wild all year round.

The non-living highlight of the walk, beyond the many vistas, is the giant blow-hole, where, at certain tidal and sea conditions, a giant water spout mimics a whale blow-hole.

Good to know: Go early in the morning or late afternoon for a chance to spot wallabies. The walk entrance is just across the road from a strip of eateries including a fish’n’chip shop and gelataria.
