It’s been more than 20 years since Wesley Enoch and John Rodgers’ critically acclaimed musical danced its way into theatres and hearts nationwide.

There's no better time than now to revive the hit Australian musical, when audiences are yearning for stories delivered with humour, hope, and a whole lot of sunshine.

It's the summer of 1946. Aboriginal soldier Frank Doyle (Marcus Corowa) has spent years fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with troops from all over Australia. When he steps onto the Brisbane wharf post war all he wants is a better life - the simple pleasures of music and laughter, a place where he can dance with Rose (Irena Lysiuk), the beautiful girl next door.

But sadly, some things haven't changed. Filled with hope and defiance, Frank sets up his own ballroom, The Sunshine Club, where everyone is welcome to meet, mingle and swing the night away.

Master storytellers Queensland Theatre have reassembled industry icons - internationally acclaimed Nunukul and Ngugi playwright and director Wesley Enoch and theatre royalty Aunty Roxanne McDonald - to lead the next generation of deadly talent in delivering this “unashamedly feel-good musical” (The Australian).
