Brisbane’s iconic theatre, Brisbane Arts Theatre, in Petrie Terrace presents Picnic at Hanging Rock from January 12 to February 16.  

A mystery that has intrigued Australia for half a century, Picnic at Hanging Rock has been a topic of controversy since the novel was first published in 1967.

Written by Joan Lindsay, the story is rumoured to be based on the disappearance of two young girls in the late nineteenth century.

This haunting tale comes to life on stage as the audience follows a group of Victorian schoolgirls - Irma, Miranda, Edith and Marion - as they venture to Hanging Rock with their class for a Valentine’s Day picnic.  

A compelling story that taps into our fear of the unknown, this exciting play captivates audiences with its dream-like aesthetic and spine-chilling end.
