Art and opera come to life underground when the Underground Opera Company returns to Spring Hill Reservoir from May 7-16, 2021, with Operarté, and it's all gold.

A stunning collaboration between ARC Living Master Artist, Mr Gordon Hanley, and the Underground Opera Company, Operarté will combine exceptional live performances with the visual spectacle of Hanley’s artworks. 

The Reservoir will house an exhibition of Hanley’s photo realistic, Gold Point art works, drawn with 24 carat gold. The exhibition will include 20 original artworks that Gordon Hanley has created to best represent each individual music piece in the evenings programme.

Time lapse photographs were taken and combined to create a visually moving masterpiece. These moving masterpieces will be projected onto the walls of the Reservoir, resulting in a magical backdrop for each performance.

The Underground Opera Company's world-class cast will fill the Reservoir with incredible arias, duets and ensemble pieces from Opera’s most memorable moments. 

So bring your friends along for a lively evening of art and opera, or organise a night out with friends, colleagues or clients in private sections of the Reservoir.

The Spring Hill Reservoir is Brisbane's most unique performance space - a series of vaulted caverns 6 metres underground with amazing acoustics and gothic hand-laid brick arches,  which have been standing for 140 years.

Need to know - Concerts are suitable for patrons of all ages who are fit and able to descend the metal staircase (stiletto heels not suitable). Limited street parking is available. For evening shows and weekends, patrons can take advantage of a $10 flat rate when entering Wilsons Car Park after 6.30pm and leaving no later than 6.30am.
