Margaret Fulton - The Musical

QUT Gardens Theatre

Margaret Fulton – The Musical is a playful musical charting Fulton’s rise from home cook to celebrity chef, and plays QUT Gardens Theatre on 13 & 14 April, 2021, as part of a national tour.

Featuring an all-Brisbane cast with powerhouse Judy Hainsworth in the titular role, Margaret Fulton – The Musical is “like chicken soup for the soul” and celebrates Australia's coming-of-age through the lens of this wise trailblazing woman of the world.

Margaret Fulton the Musical

Margaret Fulton was arguably Australia’s first culinary queen; she reigned supreme in the country’s kitchens as she taught our growing nation how to cook, releasing her self-titled cookbook released in 1968 (which sold over 1.5 million copies!). With hundreds of recipes, step-by step instructions, hints, tips and full-colour pictures, the book was a huge success, and taught a generation of women how to make delicious, economical dishes for family and friends.

Margaret Fulton the Musical

Armed with a fondue set, a pressure cooker and their new confidence, women transformed themselves from family cooks to elegant hostesses and the era of the dinner party was born!

Need to know - Margaret Fulton – The Musical is written by Doug Macleod (Kath and Kim, Fast Forward, Full Frontal) and based on her best-selling autobiography, I Sang for My Supper: Memories of A Food Writer. The show features all-new musical compositions from Yuri Worontschak (Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell).
