Bernard Ollis: The Traveller

Renowned figurative artist, Bernard Ollis, returns to Brisbane with an exciting contemporary art exhibition, showing at Mitchell Fine Art from March 27 to April 27.

In his recognizable quirky style, Ollis has captured the feeling and emotion evoked by the plethora of places he has visited on his intrepid travels within Australia and overseas.

Heavily saturated with colour, Ollis' paintings portray playful interpretations of everyday scenarios.  A view from a window or an urban park are transformed into fantastical scenes where buildings and trees converse and argue, dance and twirl.

With a career spanning more than 50 years, Ollis' vibrant artwork as been acquired in collections such as the Queensland Art Gallery, National Art Gallery of Australia, and the Royal College of Art UK.

This is the fourth solo exhibition for Ollis at Mitchell Fine Art and is an interesting departure from his usual works on paper, with most paintings oil on linen.
