Metro Arts

The Australia Independent Film Festival promises to be even bigger and better when it returns for a second instalment on November 1-3 at the CBD’s Metro Arts.

AIFF Brisbane

Spanning three sensational days and six screening sessions, the AIFF will showcase the very best of Australian and international short film, plus documentaries, animations and experimental films. A special adults-only After Dark session will also uncover a surprising mix of films you’re unlikely to see anywhere else. All in all, submissions have been received from an impressive total of 51 countries.

Founded by Brisbane filmmakers Richard Lawton and Jeremy Rigby, the AIFF is Brisbane’s biggest celebration of independent cinema, and gives filmmakers and film lovers a chance to mingle with like-minded individuals and enjoy networking opportunities.

AIFF Brisbane

Although only in its infancy, the AIFF has already gained a fantastic reputation, with last year’s edition named one of FilmFreeway’s Top 100 Best Reviewed Festivals out of more than 7000 offerings. Not a bad achievement for a first-year festival.

AIFF Brisbane

Need to know - Tickets can be purchased for a single screening session or as an all-sessions festival pass. The awards ceremony session on Nov 3 is free, but tickets must be pre-booked to secure a seat.
