Andrea Bocelli - Music For Hope
Duomo Cathedral
Andrea Bocelli has performed a special Music of Hope concert at the Duomo Cathedral and live streamed for free around the world on Easter Sunday.
The famous Italian opera singer was granted exclusive access to the (currently closed) Milan cathedral by the Archpriest, Monsignor Gianantonio Borgonovo, and Mayor, Giuseppe Sala, for the event, in a bid to send 'love, healing and hope' to Italy in the time of COVID-19.
The Milan cathedral opened its doors exclusively for Bocelli and organist Emanuel for the performance, which is hosted by Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, the 600-year-old organisation that supervises the building.
Among the songs Bocelli sings are Ave Maria and Mascagni’s Sancta Maria. The footage of this extraordinary event is available to stream on Andrea Bocelli's YouTube channel on April 12th, from 6pm UK time ( April 13th from 3am AEST).
