Illumina - Return to Sky

The skies of K'gari will be lit up in spectacular style with ‘Illumina’, an all-new interpretive light display immersed within the natural bushlands of Kingfisher Bay Resort, from October 2024. 

Illumina will launch with the ‘Return to Sky’ story – an extraordinary journey into the heart of K’gari, exploring the island’s unique landscapes, regeneration, and growth.

Bringing the World Heritage-listed ecosystem to life, Illumina will cast vibrant hues and intricate patterns across the sky to celebrate the world’s largest sand island and leave audiences in awe of the island’s ethereal beauty. 

Behind the creation and design of Illumina are the team from RAMUS Illumination, who have achieved worldwide recognition through creation of similar symphonies of light and colour for various destinations including Wintjiri Wiru at Uluru, an Australian tourism first. 

Bruce Ramus, Light Artist and Director of RAMUS Illumination said, “The constantly shifting sands, the island’s natural healing qualities, and its incredible ability to regrow itself will all be celebrated with Illumina.”

Four new accommodation packages are available now in preparation for the October 2024 launch. In addition to an immersive and enlightening island experience with comfortable eco-accommodation and buffet breakfasts, packages can include a two-course dinner and island-wide 4wd tours.
