Newmarket Gardens Caravan Park

The nearest campground and caravan park to Brisbane’s CBD, Newmarket Gardens is a well run holiday park only 4km from the city centre. Noted for its giant aged Poinciana tree by the entrance, the park has cabins and caravans for short-term rental as well as camp sites.

Unpowered camp sites are priced at $33 for two and powered sites at $35 for two while campervan/caravan sites are the same.

Those seeking cabin accommodation can choose from the lodge which is a row of bedrooms with bunk beds and wardrobe desks that share a kitchen and bathroom at $59/night for 1 or 2 people, or a fully self-contained ensuite cabin with equipped kitchen for $95/night for 1 or 2. Or lash out with the deluxe cabin – a 2 bedroom affair with separate doors to the bedroom and air con, video player refreshment pack for $116 a night. All of the cabins can accommodate an extra 2 people as well at a cost of $12/person.

There is also a cabin with ramps which has been designed to accommodate wheelchair guests.

Facilities include a 24 hr internet kiosk, dishwashing facilities, book exchange, barbecues, laundry and games room.

While the site is a little exposed with no guarantee of shade for campers, it is protected and borders a creek which also has an excellent bike path leading to the northern and western suburbs.

Buses to the city are a 3 min walk away and a great bakery and Italian pasticceria Gerbino’s is only a short hop up Ashgrove Avenue at no.166.
