Yesterday's Books & Things

Yesterday's Books and Things in a Paddington worker's cottage is full of bargains, treasures and surprises for the savvy op shop fanatic.

Inside the quaint green cottage is an amazing variety of goods and from time to time some very impressive labels find their way onto the shelves and hangers here.

There's something for everyone here with men's fashion, women's fashion, accessories, jewellery, homewares, DVDs, vinyls CDs, books, high-end magazines, artwork, decorator items, small furniture pieces, kids clothing and toys, puzzles and so much more.

Although not a specialty vintage op shop, some great vintage pieces do pass through Yesterdays. The trick is, apparently, to visit regularly as the stock here turns over very regularly with items dated as they are displayed and rotated accordingly.  If an item has a date that is two weeks past, it's automatically half price. Visit on a Sunday and fill up a bag with goods from the bargain area for just $5. Don't forget to check the table out front, where all books sell for just .50c.

Bookworms will love the variety of genres available here, with older classics and recent publications on the shelves. From photography to psychology and "other weird stuff", it's all covered and a keen reader can spend ages here just browsing.

All money raised in store supports the brain injury work of The Developing Foundation which means that whilst grabbing a great bargain, your money is helping others in need of assistance.

Donations of goods can also be delivered directly to Yesterdays Books and Things in Paddington. For those looking to volunteer, Yesterdays welcomes volunteers and provides necessary training. Volunteers here are rewarded with shop credits as well as volunteer discounts. For more information on volunteering at Yesterdays, please check the website

With great views to check out and a diverse playlist to enjoy, why not pop in and browse the shelves for a bargain?

Nice to know: Yesterday's sister store at 39 Nash Street in Rosalie is also well worth a look.
