Logan Village - Beenleigh

Heritage Trail

Residents and visitors alike can explore the City of Logan with a number of self-guided public art and heritage trails to follow.

Logan is rich in heritage with historic houses, churches and cemeteries to discover as well as a growing collection of public artworks throughout the city to celebrate Logan’s heritage and cultural diversity.

Logan Village to Beenleigh art & heritage trail

The first of the public art and heritage trails travels from Logan Village to Beenleigh with more than 20 interesting sites along the way. Use the interactive map provided by Logan City Council or customise your own tour.

Commencing at Logan Village, a highlight of this trail is Forest of Memories, an art instillation featuring historic figures from Logan’s past, which illuminates from sunset to sunrise.

In the village’s historic precinct, there are several buildings of historical significance including heritage-listed Logan Village State School (1900), the Headmaster’s Cottage (1894) and Col Ferguson Cottage (1886).

Also in Logan Village is a cemetery dating back to 1878, Logan Village Hotel (1864) and Logan Village Museum where you can find out more about the history of Logan Village.

Back in the car and on the road, you’ll find Waterford State School, the first national school established on Logan Reserve (1871) still in use today, Bethania Railway station (1885) and Bethania Lutheran Church, the oldest Lutheran Church in Queensland.

Sites worth checking out in and around Beenleigh include the beautiful Bethesda Lutheran Church, a Spanish Mission-style church dating back to 1947, the Red Bridge (opened in 1931 as a toll bridge across Logan River), Beenleigh Historical Village (with over 20 historically  significant buildings) and Beenleigh Rum Distillery (1884) which has recently re-opened with a visitor centre, tours of the distillery and rum tastings.
