THE VILLAGER HAS BEEN REPLACED BY MISS KAY'S BURGERS, WHICH AWAITS A REVIEW
This character gastro pub and supper club has been carved out of the old Treasury Chambers, one of a group of Richard Gailey designed office buildings left over from the boom years of the 1880s.
Spilling over three levels between exposed brick walls are the upper mezzanine supper club and lounges which are closed during the day and the open-sided ground floor pub-café, meaning punters can drop in for anything from an early morning smoked haddock omelette and cup of Tsar Alexandre tea to a post-midnight absinthe with a side of oysters. As a bonus it’s the only place in town where sit-down dinner is available when everywhere else is closing up.
The food menus have something of a Brit bent, with Ploughmans lunches, Steak and Guinness pie, Scottish porridge and English pickles amongst the myriad of offerings. The extensive bar menu, with a foot in both the boutique and mainstream markets, travels around the world for beer (bottled with a smattering of draught), wine, bubbles & spirits and is supplemented with a host of new & old world cocktails.
