Harry's Diner
Windsor
HARRY'S DINER HAS MOVED FROM WINDSOR IN 2018 TO A NEW UNDISCLOSED LOCATION.
Harry's, a replica American diner in Windsor, has been around for more than 20 years and has stood the test of time, attested to by the loyal cast of characters who keep coming through its doors.
For those who have yet to take a seat in one of Harry's blue vinyl booths and order an American hot dog and Boylan vintage cola, the diner can be found nestled out front of a nondescript commercial centre, easily identified by the resident pale aqua Bel Air Chevrolet parked out front.
While Harry's hotdogs (on a torpedo roll with American mustard) and old-style burgers (albeit with gourmet Wagyu patties) are the house specialties, there are plenty of other menu options including schnitzel parmigiana, sandwiches and chilli con carne. The chips here, which are chunky beer-battered, are a stand-out.
Milk shakes come served in retro metallic containers and for young diners there are Junior meals – burgers, whiting fillets or chicken with chips and ice-cream and topping all for $8.
Harry's Diner also serves up a great value breakfast, from thick buttered toast or bacon and eg burger up to Harry's Mega Breakfast for those with a supersize appetite.
A retro bubble gum machine and jukebox add to the nostalgic picture. Meanwhile the owner, a vintage car aficionado, takes things further and organises occasions and events where vintage cars and their owners descend for a rockabilly good time
