The Fishmonger's Wife

Hawthorne

THE FISHMONGER'S WIFE HAS CLOSED AS OF JULY 2022.

The Fishmonger’s Wife in Hawthorne takes the idea of a local ‘chippy’ to a whole new level, creating exceptional, gourmet fish and chips dishes.

Occupying a revamped Queenslander home, the relaxed dining space offers both indoor and outdoor dining. The owners, who designed the restaurant, make the most of the space using both table and booth seating.

A dine-in menu is large for that of a fish and chip shop, with everything from entrée’s, sides, gourmet salads, specialty seafood, chicken, beef, burgers and of course a whole page on simply, fish.

There is an array of fish available to order, all sourced from Australian waters except for the New Zealand cod. There are many fish fillets with a Thai influence as the Chefs have a Thai background, including the Tahitian Lime and Coconut marinated King Snapper.

Other spices are often used such as the delicious Moroccan grilled barramundi which is rich with aromatic spices of cumin, cinnamon and more. Best served with one of their gourmet salads, such as their refreshing Green Papaya Salad.

The Fishmonger’s Wife Hawthorne

The Fishmonger’s Wife is renowned for their exceptional calamari that melts in your mouth – it is lightly battered and served with salt, pepper and garlic.

Big, fat, fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside, beer-bettered chips are served in small baskets, perfect for a side to your fish meal.

To follow up the seafood extravaganza, the restaurant also offers dessert, with one of the dishes being the classic Battered Mars Bar.

*The restaurant is fully licensed with a wide range of beer, cider and wines available to order. It is also BYO, with a small corkage fee.

Need to know – Limited street parking is available.
