Queensland Museum

SparkLab at Queensland Museum is an interactive science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) space, perfect for young science enthusiasts aged 6 to 13 years old.

SparkLab puts the fun back in science with 40 interactive exhibits* across three fun-filled zones, guaranteed to  bring out the inner scientist in kids and adults alike.

See giant sparks of electricity, test your strength, watch water freeze, observe magnetic liquid, witness live science experiments and much more with three zones to explore.

SparkLab, Queensland Museum

Our World and How it Works features 10 interactive exhibits about the Earth, space, and states of matter including SparkLab's spectacular Science on a Sphere - a six-foot illuminated suspended sphere (1 of only 2 in Australia) where you can watch real-time clouds move across our planet, spot the moment a cyclone begins to form, and blast-off to outer space to visit Venus, Mars or circle the sun.

SparkLab, Queensland Museum

How Do We Perceive Our World? includes 11 interactive exhibits where visitors can play with light and sound. Cast a number of coloured shadows in different positions while standing in front of a large white wall, or see what happens to your reflection when you stand in front of more than 100 curved mirrors.

SparkLab, Queensland Museum

How can we change the world and what does this change do? boasts 19 fascinating, hands-ons exhibits. Test your strength and lift a fridge, watch water freeze, move a liquid using magnets, make music with Thong-a-phone and touch the lighting at SparkLab's popular Plasma Ball.

Plus, watch live science experiments and demonstrations at the Science Bar and get hands on at the Maker Space, a space where visitors can design, make, test and evaluate their creations.

*Please note that during this time a small number of high-touch exhibits within SparkLab might be unavailable to ensure the health and safety of all visitors, staff and volunteers.
