Polish Club
Milton
With décor that remains firmly ensconced in the seventies – dark swirly patterned carpet, faux wood tables and vinyl chairs – and a large dim dining room stacked with long canteen type tables, Club Polonia is never going to win a decor award but it is these very features that make it both endearing and child friendly.
At the bar you can enjoy a fantastic range of Polish beers and flavoured vodkas that you won't find anywhere else, and at club prices.
Add to that no-nonsense service, a simple budget priced menu that along with hearty Eastern European classics such as borscht, polish gnocchi and pork rolls, biga (stew) and goulash, stars a cache of excellent polish beers and flavoured vodkas and you have a recipe for a successful night out for adults (as well as any offspring who wish to tag along).
The less adventurous can tuck into chicken and chips, fish and chips or a plate of nachos. Mains coming in well below $20 (mostly) and the nachos plate alone is enough to satisfy a bear coming out of hibernation after a Polish winter so one serve of this should satisfy 2 or even 3 little people.
This club is more than a restaurant – it regularly hosts music recitals and other cultural events and every second Friday, downstairs there’s a little Polish market.
