SALT MEATS CHEESE AT SOUTH BANK HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
Salt Meats Cheese, one of Brisbane's favourite casual Italian eateries, has opened in the heart of South Bank at Mantra Hotel, dishing up traditional Italian fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with 24-hour room service available for hotel guests.
The stunning eatery and bar boasts elegant timber, brick and tile details, while warm natural tones. industrial lighting and leather banquettes add relaxed sophistication. The bar's low ceiling, glass racks and brass surfaces set the scene for more intimate experiences.
Delicious Italian fare is served the classic Italian way - shared and enjoyed as a large group or family. Diners can indulge in dishes like Crab Tagliolini (blue swimmer crab with zucchini and chilli), Risotto Pumpkin (with pistachios, goat’s cheese, parmigiano and marjoram), Stuffed Lamb Neck (with garlic and herbs, cannellini beans and salsa verde) and Tagliata - a 250g sirloin steak served with roasted asparagus and truffle pecorino.
Salt Meats Cheese is synonymous with pizza offering a fantastico range which can be served on a gluten-free base or made with dairy-free mozzarella for vegan diners.
Alternatively, guests can settle in at the bar and graze on antipasti platters and bar snacks like arancini with saffron, fontina and parmigiano, while sipping bespoke cocktails created especially for SMC South Bank.
Standouts include their signature Barrel Aged Negroni (gin, Campari and Cinzano Rosso house-aged for eight weeks in an oak barrel) and Tiramisu Espresso Martini made with Mr Black coffee liqueur, espresso, Beluga vodka and mascarpone cheese. Besides bespoke cocktails, there's a concise, carefully curated wine list as well as local and imported beer.
The bar menu, available from 11am until 9.30pm, also features generous sandwiches such as the SMC Club Sandwich with poached chicken, brie cheese, crispy bacon and egg, and Schiacciata with mozzarella, tomatoes, olive tapenade and fresh basil.
The breakfast crowd will be pleased with an abundance of Italian pastries on offer, while more substantial fare includes Australian breakfast faves with an Italian twist like the bacon and egg roll with melted provolone, and the SMC Breakfast of fried egg, grilled asparagus, sausage and truffle pecorino.
Hotel guests can enjoy an Italian feast from the comfort of their hotel room with in-dining choices such as cured meats and cheese platters, rigatoni with braised beef shin and Tiramisu with crema mascarpone, Frangelico, and candied hazelnuts.
