Florrey Bel Coffee Shed
Ipswich
Tucked away in the same group of shops as the Tivoli Nursery is Florrey Bel Coffee Shed, a no-frills café offering hearty food that brings Ipswich crowds flocking. Owner Lauren – her mother’s childhood nickname for her was Florrey Bel – believes in serving up generous portions of freshly made food that’s easy on the eye and heaven to the stomach.
A favourite for lovers of big Sunday breakfasts is the Big Vego Breakfast – a delectable mix of grilled asparagus, haloumi, eggs, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and toast. There’s also the famous weekend special, Nutella French Toast, with its thick slices sandwiched together with the hazelnut-chocolate spread, set off with maple syrup, bananas and strawberries. Small fry will love the Special Florrey Kids’ Menu with delights such as Eggs and Soldiers – two soft boiled eggs in special egg cups with three toast fingers ($6) – plus a Florrey Sundae. Babycinos are free!
Lunch and morning and afternoon teas are also catered for. Try the delicious Nachos with traditional beef chile con carne topped with salsa, or chomp into a freshly baked dark chocolate and pear crumble muffin or Baci di Dama (“Ladies’ kiss” Italian biscuit).
Coffee is Brisbane boutique roasters Abrisca’s El Divino blend, with creamy Maleny milk, and smoothies such as the Strawberry Melon Lassi are definitely worth popping in for.
