Six Ninety Bar & Eatery

Fortitude Valley

Six-Ninety Bar and Eatery is a fab restaurant and cocktail bar that occupies one of Fortitude Valley's oldest heritage buildings on the edge of funky Bakery Lane.

The building, which started life as the Valley's first apothecary, still retains many of its historic features, making a splendid place for a bite to eat or a bespoke cocktail.

Upstairs is a charming old world lounge bar with original handmade brick walls, fireplaces, chandeliers and French doors leading onto the front and rear balconies. Here is the perfect spot to relax with one of the lush house cocktails such as Dispensed, Bootleg, and Six Ninety, classic faves such as Espresso Martini, Negroni, Daiquiri Or Margarita, a glass of wine (for just $8), tap or bottled beer.

Meanwhile downstairs there is more bar seating and an open kitchen which serves up some of the best food to be found in the Valley. For Six Ninety is well worth dining out at, thanks to the creative chefs who have weaved their magic into a menu that features delectable raw and smoked dishes and a bounty of fresh seafood.

Start with the apple smoked scallop carpaccio, fish-of-the-day sashimi, fermented chill prawns, Sichaun calamri or oysters (with chilli apple and citrus or apple, cucumber, wasabi and granita), duck spring rolls or garlic cheese bread.

Then for mains there's dishes such as truffle beef tartare, chill crab risotto, rack of lamb, caramelized prosciutto-wrapped scallops with sliced tiger beetroot or the must try apple wood smoked duck with cherry tomatoes, grilled asparagus, roasted butternut pumpkin puree and blackberry jus.
