Brisbane Food News: What Venues Have Closed

With the hospitality industry under extreme fire due to COVID-19 and the government health issues, venues are taking extreme measures, from closing temporarily to shutting down permanently. Here is a guide to the Brisbane bars, cafes, restaurants and markets that have closed for the moment or forever:

UPDATE - As of 12pm March 23rd all Brisbane bars and pubs have closed as well as many restaurants and cafes, with those remaining only open for takeaway/home delivery. Check with your favourite eateries as to where they stand, following this new directive. QAGOMA and Museum of Brisbane have also closed.

ARC Dining - The award-winning waterfront restaurant at Howard Smith Wharves has closed permanently. 

Aether Brewing - The Northgate microbrewery will continue brewing but ut has closed its taproom until April.

Artie & Mai - The Albion institution has closed as of March 30th.

Barbara - The Fortitude Valley bar has closed temporarily with no re-opening date yet.

BITE Markets - The northside's popular container ship markets have closed for the time being.

Blute's Bar - The Fortitude Valley bar has also closed temporarily with no re-opening date yet.

Brisbane Night Market - The popular southside indoor twilight market has closed temporarily.

Bucci Restaurant & Bar  - The James St Italian restaurant/bar has closed indefinitely as of March 24th.

Chu the Phat - The South Brisbane Pan-Asian restaurant and bar has closed indefinitely.

Corella - This Woolloongabba fine diner will be closing for now and are hoping to bring a new dining concept when they re-open.

Donna Chang - The stunning new Chinese restaurant in Brisbane CBD has closed temporary.

Doo Bop Jazz Bar - Brisbane CBD's New York style jazz bar has closed indefinitely.

Eat Street Northshore - Brisbane's big dining attraction on the river at Hamilton has closed for the foreseeable future.

El Torito - The longtime West End Mexican fave has closed indefintely.

Fat Belly Jack's - The Petrie Terrace American-style bar diner is closed indefinitely.

Fogata Latin Fusion Bar & Restaurant Fortitdue Valley - Is closed until further notice.

Greaser Bar - The cool grungy underground bar in Fortitude Valley is closed until further notice.

Hellcat Maggie - The laneway eatery and bar has closed indefinitely.

Hellenika - Brisbane's best Greek restaurant has closed for now.

Howard Smith Wharves - Greca, Stanley, Yoko Dining, Mr Percival's, Ciao Papi, ARC Dining and Felons Brewing have all closed. 

John Mills Himself - The CBD laneway gem has closed its bar but the cafe is still open.

Jumbo Thai - The best Thai restaurant in Brisbane CBD has temporarily closed.

Kennigo Social House - The historic Spring Hill restaurant has closed for the foreseeable future.

Kingsley's Steak & Seafood Eagle St Pier - This longtime fixture on the Brisbane Dining Scene has closed until April 20th at earliest.

La Cache a Vin - Brisbane's best french restaurant has closed but its bottle shop is still open for takeaway wine.

Little Big House - The South bank landmark pub has closed temporarily with no re-opening date yet.

Little Glass Room Espresso Bar - The Mt Gravatt cafe bar has closed for the time being.

Little Valley - The super cool Fortitude Valley Chinese eatery and bar has closed indefinitely.

Malt Bar & Dining - The upstairs downstairs bar restaurant in the historic CBD marketplace has closed.

Medley Cafe & Restaurant - Have closed as a cafe/restaurant but re-opened as a grocer/providore.

Miss Demeanour - The late night basement bar down the CBD laneway has closed for the time being.

Mongrel Bar - The popular Milton bar will close from Monday March 23rd  for 2 weeks and reassess re-opening then.

Mrs Brown's BAR and Kitchen - The funky Newstead eatery and bar has closed indefinitely.

Mr Henderson - The Sandgate bar is closed indefinitely.

Mt Gravatt Marketta - This twilight market has closed until further notice.

Netherworld - Fortitude valley's retro games and fun pub has closed for the time being.

Nostimo - The Greek Club's main restaurant has closed for now.

Nundah Corner Cafe - Has closed indefinitely.

One Fish Two Fish - This seafood restaurant at Kangaroo Point has closed temporarily.

OTTO Ristorante -  The CBD Italian fine diner has closed indefinitely.

Phat Boy - The Brisbane Quarter Thai restaurant has closed indefinitely.

Rico Bar & Dining - The Eagle St Pier Latin American restaurant and bar has closed indefinitely.

Semi-Pro Brewing Co - The East Brisbane craft brewery has closed its tap room but you can get home delivery of your favourite brews.

Shucks Bar - The Manly seafood cafe and bar has closed for the time being.

SK Steak & Oyster - The newly opened steak and seafood restaurant at the Calile has closed.

Smoked Paprika - The Bardon cafe will be closed as of Monday 30th March

Sundays Cafe - The Rocklea cafe has closed temporarily.

Tempest - The Scarborough waterfront seafood restaurant and teppanyaki bar has closed indefinitely.

The Matriarch - The gorgeous Newstead eatery and cocktail bar has closed temporarily.

The Milk Factory - The historic corner pub and live music venue in South Brisbane has closed for the time being.

The New Black - The funky laneway cafe in Fortitude Valley has closed for now.

The Whisk Fine Patisserie - The Mt Gravatt artisan patisserie has closed its doors.

Wilde Kitchen - The healthy new gluten-free cafe at Ascot has closed.

OTHER ENTERTAINMENT VENUES

1UP Arcade - The Morningside fun parlour has closed its doors indefinitely.

QPAC - Has closed until April 30th at this stage.

QAGOMA - Has closed its doors as of Monday March 23rd.

Museum of Brisbane - Has also closed as of Monday March 23rd.

Queensland Museum - Has closed as of Monday March 23rd.

State Library of Queensland - Has closed as of Monday March 23rd.

All Brisbane cinemas and theatres have closed.
