Boroughs of New York Pizza brings an authentic slice of the Big Apple to Fortitude Valley, with a constant flow of traditional New York style pizzas being fired up in the giant copper coated pizza ovens in the windows.
Inside the slick cosy space, the Manhattan skyline and other borough street scene photo murals form the backdrop on the walls, while diners gather on orange metal chairs and rustic wooden stools to get their fill of the delicious wood-fired pizzas, decadent curly chill cheese fries, hot dogs and New York bagels, washed down with American and craft beers, wine, cider, spiders, milk shakes, Pepsi, Coke, iced tea, coffee and old school American soda.
The pizza menu encompasses a mega range of toppings, taking inspiration from the boroughs (Bronx, Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens) and other famous New York neighbourhoods. Examples include the Coney Island (prawns, tomato, asparagus, fresh chili, mozzarella and TBONY secret pizza sauce), the New Yorker (bacon, free range eggs, mozzarella and secret pizza sauce) and Eataly (Italian sausage, broccoli, oven roasted peppers, mozzarella and secret pizza sauce).
There’s also the option to design your own pizza, choosing from a range of bases, and toppings (regular, premium, exotic or vegan), with add-ons of fresh garlic and chilli.
And don’t miss the decadent dessert pizzas including the American S’Mores – toasted marshmallow, milk chocolate, honey, Graham Crackers (the 1829 invention of New Jersey Presbyterian minister Sylvester Graham) and Nutella.
Pizzas aside, The Boroughs also does New York bagels (including Eggs Benedict, cream cheese and Peanut Butter and Jelly), Chilli Cheese Curly Fries, Calzones, Brooklyn Chilli Cheese Dog (hot or mild), Garden Salad (with organic dressing) and Buffalo Wings with a choice of dipping sauce.
As well as the cold drinks, there’s also brewed coffee, Italian hot chocolate and flavoured teas.
Need to know – There’s also a takeaway window with a smattering of street furniture for those in a hurry. The pizzeria is situated in the base of the building that has Eleven Rooftop Bar on top.
