Ehden Bar & Kitchen

West End

EHDEN BAR AND KITCHEN HAS CLOSED AS OF DEC 31, 2021 AS THE BUILDING IS BEING REDEVELOPED.

Ehden Bar and Kitchen brings a taste of the Mediterranean and Middle East to West End with a stunning restaurant and bar on Montague Road.

Housed in an historic, two-storey building, once home to London Fields, Ehden is named after a very old and beautiful village in the heart of the northern mountains of Lebanon. Owned by restauranteur Simon Barakat (The Defiant Duck, Gino's), the restaurant is a tribute to his father and their Lebanese heritage.

Inside, the decor is simple yet stylish with white-washed walls and wooden floorboards. Bench seating lines the walls and bi-fold windows, surrounding a central bar. Alternatively, patrons can enjoy a meal and glass of wine in the leafy, fairy-lit garden terrace.

The concise menu features Modern Australia fare with a Middle Eastern twist including mezze, mains and share plates.

Start with warm pita served with dips such as green olive tapenade, roasted cauliflower hummus, and smokey baba ganoush, or sample the mezze menu: crumbed feta stuffed olives, house made Lebanese sausages, barbecued octopus or charred chermoula-spiced prawns.

Mouth-watering mains worth trying are the parmesan and thyme crumbed veal cutlet, Lebanese grilled chicken, and eye fillet steak served with blue cheese rosti, spinach and roast cherry tomatoes.

If you can't decide, order one of the restaurant's share plates such as Taste of Ehden - Lebanese sausage, saganaki, jamon, olives, pumpkin kibbeh, bbq octopus, prawns and pita bread.

Meanwhile, delectable desserts include lemon curd tarts, flourless chocolate cake, and espresso panna cotta.

The bar is fully licensed with craft beer on tap, boutique wine, top-shelf spirits and cocktails like Aperol Spritz, Smoked Negroni, and Space Gin Smash (Bulldog gin, lime juice, elderflower cordial and mint).

Nice to know - Ehden boasts five beautiful function spaces available for private events and special occasions including a secret underground room.
