Melidrop is cooking up bespoke and authentic Greek dishes in their relaxed, island vibe café in Kangaroo Point.

The expansive café features an al fresco dining area out the front and an abundance of cosy nooks inside. Tables can be arranged in intimate dining settings or for groups. There’s even secluded rooms designed for café meetings away from the office, as well as a small kid’s play area.

Melidrop has a breakfast and lunch menu featuring many Aussie favourites with a Melidrop twist, as well as a plethora of authentic Greek inspired dishes. There’s also cheeky treats such as bougatsa, a traditional Greek sweet.

For breakfast, try their kayianna, which is the Greek version of scrambled eggs – mixed with tomato, onion and a delicious combination of herbs.

A popular dish on the lunch menu is their fava bowl – it’s a yellow split pea puree topped with an egg, prawns and broccoli.

Melidrop rolls their own dolmades too, made with fresh homegrown vine leaves – they are definitely a must do.

It must be a European thing, as Greek’s can make delectable pasta dishes too. Tuck into their slow cooked beef risoni for lunch – it’ll warm you up during the winter months.

We all know that Greek’s love their octopus, and Melidrop makes a killer octopus pasta too.

Melidrop can whip up some delicious halva, which goes down quite nicely with a side of ice cream.

The café serves Bear Bones coffee, traditionally as a Spikito, or the Aussie way in a cappuccino.

Try Melidrop’s semi-freddo for something a bit different, it’s basically a long black topped with milk foam that can be mixed into the coffee to taste.

Need to know – Nearby street parking is available. There is also a takeaway counter.

Nice to know – Melidrop is one of the only cafés in Brisbane to serve home-cooked bona fide Greek meals.
