Libertine

Petrie Terrace

With its stunning Indochine meets Belle Epoque décor - suspended pressed metal ceiling, red lacquered chairs, over the top chandeliers, fringed bordello lampshades and ornate mirrors, Libertine is resemblant of a dining room in an Oriental palace.

And its east west fusion dishes are every bit as royal – roast local scallops, organic Berkshire pork spring rolls, spiced garlic eggplant, grilled wagyu beef in sweet fish sauce - and served by black and bling-clad waitresses.

If planning a romantic tete a tete go early as later when the happy hordes descend from the bar courtyard outside the atmosphere can rapidly change from exclusive intimate to raucous cocktail party.

Whilst the soft muted lighting is marvellous and indeed welcome for its anti-aging properties, those of a mature age may be well advised to carry a small torch in order to have any chance of reading the menu.
