The Garden Gate Nursery & Cafe

The Garden Gate Nursery and Cafe warmly welcomes gardeners and coffee or tea enthusiasts alike to their home in Sandgate.

The relaxing space encourages visitors to sit and contemplate their nursery purchases over a cup of organic coffee from The Coffee Roaster and a home made cake from the kitchen (including some rather tempting gluten free treats).

The organic cafe has a great bayside vibe and recycled theme with a repurposed bath tub, a comfy day bed and doors-turned-tables dotted about the nursery. In fact, it is not unusual to find local green thumbs sitting with a pot of tea by the greenhouse, planning their next planting adventure.

The Garden Gate Nursery sells a variety of locally grown plants, seedlings and trees (both edible and ornamental) and the expert staff are keen to offer environmentally-friendly gardening advice to get you growing your own backyard salads or sub-tropical paradise in no time. Unlike the larger chain nurseries, every purchase made at The Garden Gate Nursery and Cafe directly benefits Sandbag Inc, Sandgate's hard working community centre.

Permaculture gardening and landscaping workshops are also planned for The Garden Gate space and all profits from this socially minded enterprise benefit Sandbag Community projects, which are located just upstairs.

Nice to know: Every Sunday Morning from 9am, The Garden Gate Nursery and Cafe offers live acoustic music and a barbecue breakfast with sustainable meat and vegetarian options. This is a much needed fundraising event for the local community centre, Sandbag, and more events are planned for the future.
