DUDLEY STREET ESPRESSO HAS CLOSED IN 2021 AND BEEN REPLACED BY LANEWAY 86.
The shabby facade of Annerley shopping centre belies the many hidden treasures within, including this funky ode to yesteryear lurking behind a purple street lamp and mosaic-edged bench on the corner of East Dudley St and Ipswich Road.
Curios aside, the café itself is a treasure, from the friendly spot on service to being seated on rustic stools sampling the perfectly baked banana and walnut bread or the toasted paninis – among the best you’ll find anywhere. Be warned though – it’s the kind of place where you arrive seeking coffee and depart with a 1950’s pedal car or an army pith helmet.
