Pantry 360
Newstead
Pantry 360 in Newstead is a slick combination of regional grocer, cellar and café, where sustainability rules and everything is sourced from within a 360km radius.
Located on a bit of an outpost on the waterside of Skyring Terrace, Pantry 360 is well worth a visit for its delectable all day dining menu and the chance to buy a carefully curated selection of fresh produce, bakery and gourmet providore items and wine that won’t cost a bomb from sustainable local sources.
The cool contemporary Scandi-chic interior is complemented by an umbrella-shaded dining terrace with green wall outside and the friendly staff are kitted out in cute trilby hats and aprons.
Customers can select anything they fancy from the fantastic food menu at any time of day, including well-brewed coffee, from doors open to closing.
Breakfast choices at Pantry 360 are a real treat and include Sweet Pumpkin Bread with caramelized nectarines and Scenic Rim yoghurt or Honey Glazed Speck with Poached Eggs on potato rosti with smoked cherry tomatoes and tomato relish. Highly recommended is the signature P360 Hotpot – chorizo, haloumi, nudja and tomato in a pot, topped with baked egg and served with toasted sour dough. Or for something completely different yet delicious, try the Cajun Smoked Prawns on sweet corn fritters with avocado and lime salsa.
Lunch is just as more-ish, with options like Pork Belly with cauliflower puree, beetroot and apple relish, Pumpkin, fetta and Kalamata olive salad or the must try Smoked Chicken Ciabatta with triple cream brie and eggplant kasundi (one of the best gourmet sandwiches to be found anywhere in Brisbane).
For something light to enjoy with a glass of wine, Pantry 360 has a Regional Olive Bowl (3 olive varieties with sour dough and olive oil) or a Cheese Platter of 3 cheeses with fruit paste and crackers.
Coffee connoisseurs will be in heaven at Pantry 360, with the in-house ‘Graeme’ blend coming in 6 carefully selected coffee varieties and flavours (think port & cherry, aniseed & fresh grass or toast, honey & chocolate) from 3 local sources – Noosa Black, Mount Top Estate and from the hills of Byron.
And no customer can leave here empty-handed, with the interesting array of gourmet products, fresh produce and pantry fillers on show. Fridges are stocked with local meats, frozen seafood and varieties of cheeses, Barambah yoghurts and Scenic Rim milk, Sunshine Coast Finger limes.
Meanwhile on shelves you’ll find the likes of lemon butter, red capsicum or beetroot relish or green tomato pickles from New England Larder, tiny jars of Apple Rosemary Jelly or Fig and Port Mustard, Caramelized Lychee Balsamic Vinegar or Pear and Saffron Chutney and jars of black garlic.
There’s gourmet spice blends, packets of jerky or kale chips, and, at the counter, sacks of apples, pumpkins and plates of fresh-baked muffins and so much more.
And for those hard-to-find regional & Queensland wines, here’s the place to find them.
In a nutshell - The kind of cafe/grocer everyone wants in their neighbourhood, where all the hard work is sourcing local, sustainable and affordable has been done & the kind of place which makes you a coffee at 8pm or a steak sandwch at 6am.
